Organize Your Closet
Posted by Jerrard Romanoff in Guides, on March 16, 2015Organizing your closet might be a real pain, but it is actually something pretty important.
Imagine a situation in which you have to quickly prepare for a dinner party, but you cannot find the pants that best suit your shoes of choice because of all the mess in the closet. Or think about how stressful it is to get up in the morning, start preparing for work, opening the door to the closet and having a pile of clothes falling over you.
Organization is vital for every part of the domestic life – from moving homes to making breakfast. Actually, once you have professional movers over to pack your stuff and relocate you to your new place of residence, you will be forced to organize your closet, no matter whether you want it or not. But why wait for that moment? Start today, it is not that hard at all.
- Color code your clothes. Well, this one does not need much explanation. The easiest way to always be sure that you will be able to quickly find what you have been looking for is to arrange the clothes in your closet according to color.
- Find a way to organize the space in your closet. You can add drawers if it does not already have, and get a lot of hangers. Trust us on this one, there is no better way to get your closet organized than having separate compartments for shoes, sweaters and pants. If you do not want to invest too much money, simple cardboard boxes may also do the trick. What you need here is to combine the creative with the practical in the most suitable way according to the closet space that you have at your disposal.
- Do not forget to regularly clean your closet. Vacuum and mop it at least once every month, so that you are sure your clothes are stored in a clean environment. Have in mind that even if the closet looks clean, it does not mean it is. That is the reason you should consider sparing half an hour every month or so to attend to it. It does not sound that hard, doesn’t it? Well, the reason is because it is not indeed.
- The final step for successful and lasting organization is to actually get rid of those items of clothing that you neither need nor use. If you are one of those people who are not good at throwing clothes away, here is a small tip that may help you. Flip all your hangers backwards for a certain amount of time. For optimal results it is recommended that this time is no less than 3 or 4 months. If you wear something, turn the hanger to its normal direction. Once the set period is over, you will see which ones of your clothes you have not used at all lately. Thus you will know what you need to get rid of right away.
